Update on Festival de Loire d’Orleans.
The team are now back home again after five fantastic days at the Festival de Loire d’Orleans. Working in partnership with the Leeds & Liverpool Canal Society, we estimate that we spoke to around 1500 visitors over the course of the Festival, all of whom were very interested to learn about us and the canals in England. The Festival itself is very impressive, with activities and entertainment from morning until night and, of course, a cavalcade of traditional boats from the Loire region and beyond.
Two visitors to our stand were the Liverpool duo LocTup Together, pictured with Mike Clarke and “Dicky Willy” of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. The duo were one of the many acts performing at the Festival singing folk and shanty songs.
We also had an impromptu performance outside our tent on Saturday by a traditional maritime piper and drummer, also pictured.
We are so pleased that we attended and it was an unforgettable experience.
